The core objectives of WJO:
Raise Awareness and Educate:
Foster public understanding of environment and wildlife conservation and the organization’s initiatives through diverse outreach programs, including public lectures, seminars, workshops, research projects, publications, and community mapping events.
Establish Wildlife as a National Priority:
| Position wildlife conservation as a recognized and valued priority in Somalia, ensuring it becomes an integral part of the nation’s environmental and developmental agenda. |
Assess and Strengthen Conservation Efforts:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of wildlife conservation practices in Somalia and develop strategic plans to improve the livelihoods of wildlife and their habitats.
Safeguard Wildlife and Ecosystems:
Advocate for and protect the rights and freedoms of wildlife, ensuring their preservation within the broader ecosystem and addressing threats to their survival.
Encourage Community-Led Innovations:
Support and promote innovative solutions from local communities to address environmental challenges, fostering social and economic development while enhancing ecological sustainability.
Build Resilient Communities:
Empower communities to actively participate in local, national, and global conservation efforts, aligning with the targets of the Global Biodiversity Framework to achieve longterm environmental resilience.
